Botanic Garden

Botanic Garden consists of outdoor Display Garden reproducing the Korean traditional garden with native plants, and Conservatory exhibiting plants from 12 tropical and Mediterranean cities. Other attractions include the Kid's Garden School and Magok Cultural Hall (previous pump station).

  • 마곡문화관
Magok Cultural Hall in SBP is a modern architecture registered as Cultural Heritage No. 363 Yangcheon Drainage Pump Station in 2007, for its great historical value as being the only existing and well-preserved building among those built in 1927-28 when Korea was under Japanese occupation.
It was a water management center for field crop irrigation, particularly stable paddy farming, in the Magok plains. Built in a wooden structure on a concrete foundation with a length of 4 meters (therefore not compromised by floods), the station was shut down in the 1980s due to urbanization and restored its old form and structure in 2017.
Yangcheon Drainage Pump Station, restored as Magok Cultural Hall, consists of the Special Exhibition Hall (327.94㎡) on the first floor, the Permanent Exhibition Hall (57.16㎡) on the second floor, and the underground space preserving the old drainage pipes.
